Front Row and Free

William Clark Green has been a top contender on my Texas Country list for a while. I love his shows but he seems to just magically appear around Fort Worth. A couple of weeks ago, I just happened to see his name pop up again to open for The Josh Abbott Band at Billy Bob’s, even though he wasn’t listed on their website. Sneaky, sneaky!

Then, I just happened to get free tickets to see the show, at the last minute.
The tickets just happened to be reserved seating, front row, dead center.
If I got any closer I would’ve been hugging the man on stage. Not saying I would’ve had a problem with that…

William Clark Green is amazing live. Ah hell, I’ll just let you have a listen for yourself. You’ve heard me praise him before.

Then there’s this one with Josh Abbott (who was having a ton of fun onstage) – I was one happy girl to hear this song! LOVE!

The Josh Abbott Band on the other hand. Well, the man is amazing or should I say band. He is one of the few performers who was scheduled for two nights in a row at Billy Bob’s – it’s rare. The place was packed. There was a lot of folks with a good taste in music. JAB may be more widely known due to the songs that he writes. They’re trying to bring attention to causes that the majority may over look. His most recent release, She Will Be Free, brings attention to sex traffic crisis in the US – it’s more prevalent than most think. Check out the video.

This is one of my all time favorite Texas Country songs… makes me just wanna two-step!

This turned out to be one of the best shows I’ve been to in a while. Maybe it was the fact that we were so close. Perhaps it was because they were so personable. Good company adds to the mix (and good beer). Texas music – doesn’t get much better! If you have a chance to check out either of these guys (or purchase their album) – I highly recommend it!

Catch the Moment 365 – Days 10-16

Each day in 2014, I am taking a photo. There is no telling what the photo will be or where the “inspiration” will come from. All photos are taken either with my Nikon D5100 or the iPhone (for those times on the go). Come back each Friday for a complete compilation of the past seven days and link to join / view others as part of the 365 projects!

This week:

Day 10/365: January 10, 2014
Aaron Watson at Billy Bob’s Texas (the World’s Largest Honky Tonk). So many good shows this month. This is the second Friday in a row…. looks like I’ll be there for at least four straight. Here’s to good ole Texas country!

Went out to dinner with some work friends at La Hacienda Ranch. Good food, even better company and some entertainment! (I told him I needed a photo for the day. I’m not sure if he knew I was serious when I said I was going to post it on my site!) Such a good sport!

Sundays are church days. On this day, Matthew 4.

Went and saw Lone Survivor at the movies. This is a must see if you haven’t already. Bring a box of tissues. In the meantime, be sure to thank every service member you come across.

Those Girl Scouts… sneaking in their cookie sales about two weeks after everyone starts their New Years resolutions. Good thing this girl doesn’t go for the weight loss resolution, I can enjoy these – my favorite!

Day 15/365: January 15, 2014
Well, I needed a photo tonight. Yes, I still have my tree up. The theme (for ideas) in the Catch the Moment 365 group is “cold” this week… I’m in Texas so we’ll pretend with this snowflake ornament.

I’ve seen way too much of my work keyboard this week. Way too much.

My Winter Wonderland (Part 1)

Christmas 2013 didn’t quite feel like Christmas until I started to see the snow but waking up in Vermont Christmas Day morning, oh I can’t even begin to express how nice it felt. My first sight out the window was breathtaking!

Christmas Day 2013

Granted, a few short days before I arrived, an ice storm ravaged the area (read more about it here). Although there was damage, it left some areas looking absolutely beautiful. So beautiful I’ve had to break this down into two posts. Here are some photos from my time at home. I hope you love them as much as I do. I was blessed to grow up in a beautiful place!
