Go! Habs! Go!

One of the best ways I started off 2014 was to attend a hockey game. This wasn’t just any hockey game but seeing my favorite two teams play each other – the Montreal Canadians vs. the Dallas Stars. Who did I root for? My all around favorite of course, the Habs!

Granted, I have come to love the Dallas Stars but when the Habs come to town, I’m 100% Habs! This is a pretty special game as it only happens once every other year. The two teams typically rotate locations to play once a season.

Habs vs. Stars 01/02/2014I attended the game with one of my friends who lives in the area that I actually grew up with. Little did I know when I showed up at his house that he was going to cheer for the Stars. I should’ve known, this was going to get interesting.

Habs vs. Stars 01/02/2014 Habs vs. Stars 01/02/2014Hockey games just get getter with good fights. It may be my favorite part. This game, had two plus a penalty shot. The game was aggressive, high scoring and intense. Habs vs. Stars 01/02/2014

In the video you can hear a guy yelling “Let’s go Stars”. This guy had to be the most annoying fan. I say this not because he was cheering for the Stars but because he couldn’t take it both ways. Directly behind us, we had a group from Ottawa cheering for the Habs (yes, I was very happy I was surrounded by Habs fans). Said Stars fan started giving Habs fan a hard time, Habs fans came back twice as hard in a joking, playful manner and he just got serious and pissed. What fun is that?!

As I was saying… look at these awesome fans! I see red!

Habs vs. Stars 01/02/2014Great company and love some Habs! Love it even more when they come and win! Can’t wait until the next hockey game!! What a great game!

Catch the Moment 365 – Days 3-9

This is the first full week of Catch the Moment 365. The past week has been hectic so this isn’t highlighting using my Nikon, it’s highlighting the iPhone. I’m a bit disappointed but provides a little extra push going forward and putting my photography skills to the test a little more using my DSLR. In the meantime, here’s a little glimpse into my world from the past seven days!

Day 3: January 3rd, 2014
William Clark Green opening for the Josh Abbott Band at Billy Bob’s Texas. Front row and center. Couldn’t get any closer. What a show!

(3-365) 262Day 4: January 4th, 2014
Even though I came from an incredibly small town in Vermont, I have a friend that I grew up with about ten minutes away (we made our way to Texas at separate times). On Saturday, they had a birthday party for their little boy who turned one and had a bounce house on hand. Needless to say, the bounce house isn’t just for the kids, the adults found their way too. As Dustin would say, I only made it 7/8th of the way around but for being almost 30, I’m saying it counts! Here’s to being a kid at heart!

(4-365) 297Day 5: January 5th, 2014
This is Earl (he looks like an Earl doesn’t he?). My mom gave him to me for Christmas. Seeing how I’m in Texas it’s appropriate. So awesome.

(5-365) 302Day 6: January 6th, 2014
The one post where I decided to have a little fun with my Nikon DSLR. Too bad I didn’t clean off the bulb on the tree first. Yes, I still have my tree up!
(6-365) 004Day 7: January 7th, 2014
Dinner with one of my closest friends. She is amazing and has followed her goals and become a deputy. Don’t mess with this Chiquita! Very proud of her and couldn’t ask for a more loyal friend!
(7-365) 306Day 8: January 8th, 2014
I am loving my new wallet. Green, I can’t get enough of this color.
(8-365) 314Day 9: January 9th, 2014
It’s been a little while since I’ve been back into the working out routine and I can feel it. The night before I ran. On the 9th, I went to yoga. Feels so good to get back into it but it was definitely noticeable to be out of it.
(9-365) 318
Come back next week to see what’s going on. I anticipate using my DSLR a lot more so I can’t wait to see what’s in store!

Vermont Ice Storm 2013

Over the holiday’s, I headed back up north to Vermont. When I arrived, I had just missed the ice storm that took out power, phone lines and many, many, many trees. Although the ice made everything look like a winter wonderland, there was a lot of damage.

TitleFor this week, I thought we’d take a look at the damage first. Completely different in comparison to the ice storm we saw in Texas at the beginning of the month. The ice was EVERYWHERE!

068078Check out the layer of ice on the above signs. Amazing how something so thin can accumulate so much ice.

The following pictures (along with the initial photo in this post) were all taken down one stretch of back road in Berkshire. In my opinion, this road was the hardest hit that we saw and this was about a week after the ice storm. Goes to show how much work needed and was being done elsewhere.

These last few pictures were taken between Berkshire and Enosburg. Hidden drives are now pretty hidden… 251 250 249 247Hopefully, the cold madness stops and everyone can have their electricity, phone lines and properties restored soon!

Today I’m linking up with Photography Essentials, The Jenny Evolution and Communal Global for{Wordless Wednesday}.
