Odd Roadside Sights… Texas FM 290

Imagine driving down Farm Road 290 between Peaster and Weatherford, Texas. A two lane road  surrounded by fences, open fields, the occasional home or two and every so often if you pay attention, you’ll pass thru a tiny town. Then up ahead you see a little pull off area.

Would you ever guess there would be a truck ready to sell oysters, shrimp and alligator meat over 300 miles from the closest coast?
Neither did I….

Guess he’s been here for years although my friend from this area said he’s never stopped.
Makes you wonder!

Holiday Light Hunting in Highland Park

Friday night, I ventured out to Dallas on a mission… to find the best possible Christmas lights around! The Highland Park area is a wealthy, peaceful neighborhood with elaborate homes just outside of downtown Dallas. (To give you an idea, we drove by a house that had valet for their party.) Driving around looking at these amazing homes is a trip in itself but to have them decorated so beautifully around the holidays is the icing on the cake!

If you happen to be around the Dallas area and are looking for a good spot for lights, this is definitely it. There’s also carriage rides available to take you on a tour down a few streets.

Here are a few of my favorites! I hope you enjoy them too!
(Be sure you scroll all the way to the bottom to see the jackpot of all decorated homes!)

I would love to have life-like guards outside my door but I guarantee if I’m storing them in an attic, they’re bound to catch me off guard at another point during the year.

Does anyone else think Home Alone when seeing homes like this one?

Is your house too big? Well, let’s just decorate all the trees! Christmas Lights, Dallas Christmas Lights, DFW Holiday Lights, Holiday Lights, Texas Holiday Lights Christmas Lights, Dallas Christmas Lights, DFW Holiday Lights, Holiday Lights, Texas Holiday Lights

This was my favorite (above). Perfect in every way! Not too big, not too small. Great porch. Feels like home!

No joke. That Nutcracker is literally the entire first story. The presents are bigger than I am and there’s even more on the lawn that I couldn’t get into the picture.

Which one is your favorite?

Texas Family Film

Release Date: December 5, 2014

Calling all of those to show their Texas pride, love for music and the ambition to follow their dreams. The One I Wrote For You is a San Antonio made and family filmed movie set to release on December 5th, 2014.

Based in San Antonio, the story is of Ben who is a father, husband and employee of a local coffee shop who’s dreams of becoming an accomplished songwriter seem so very long ago. With the encouragement of his ten year old daughter and loved ones, Ben is pushed to follow his dreams on a reality television show. With disappointment and discouragement, Ben is provided an opportunity. He is challenged to face his fears, push himself and not lose himself in the process.

This is a great Texas based film to kick off the holiday’s. It reminds us to be aware of our support system, to follow our dreams no matter how out of reach they may seem but most importantly – we don’t need to lose ourselves in the process. A feature film for those of all ages, we can all take something home and maybe receive a little affirmation and push to chase that thought that we’ve put away so long ago.
