All Western Parade 2159

For the past 120 years, the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo has been held in Fort Worth. On the first Saturday of the festivities, the All Western Parade is held in downtown Fort Worth. This is the biggest western themed and non-motorized parade in the world. In the world folks!

On Saturday morning, we lined the streets along with other eager (and cold) guests to take part in the parade. This event exemplifies the history, tradition and heritage found in Fort Worth. Known for the Stockyards, this is the event that meets the wild west, cowboys, cowgirls and the history and tradition that has made this city what it is today. This event is free although you can pay for reserved bleacher seats however I would say to grab a couple chairs and find a spot along the parade route. It’s free and there was plenty of space. Be prepared, the parade lasted over an hour and a half.

The parade was incredibly unique! First, when have you ever attended a non-motorized parade? I can honestly say this was my first. No vehicles – the means of transportation included riding an animal, be pulled by an animal (via a wagon) or your own two legs. There had to be well over a thousand horses. Participant’s included local organizations and community members, local public service organizations (such as the Fort Worth Police Department), out-of-towners (the El Paso Sheriff’s posse was one of my personal favorites as you’ll see with the pictures) as well as American and Mexican participant’s in traditional garb.

With the tradition that is exuberant in Fort Worth, this is one event that you may never find anywhere else. You’ll be entertained, the kids imagination will go wild – it’s definitely enjoyable for everyone involved. Welcome to the Wild West folks! Now, I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking.

Mother-Daughter Christmas Cheer Photo Session

There is nothing better than spending this time of year with loved ones! This year, I had the privilege of taking family photos for this mother-daughter duo in the Fort Worth Stockyards. Filled with happiness, cheer and can I say, they couldn’t have picked out cuter outfits, capturing memories with these two was (as always) a great time. The Fort Worth Stockyards really lived up to par presenting a rustic, holiday feel. The pictures came out amazing! I hope you love them as much as I do. Here is a peek into their Christmas photo session in the Fort Worth Stockyards.

1st Annual Sonny & Friends Rahr B’Que Cookoff

Disclaimer: I was not paid for this post however I did receive tickets to the event in return for the publication. As always, all opinions are my own. #SonnyandFriends #AutismSpeaks #FortWorthTX

Fort Worth may be a big city but it is more so a tight knit community with an enormous heart. On Friday, I attended the 1st Annual Sonny & Friends Rahr B’Que Cookoff. Held at Rahr & Sons Brewery where musicians, cooks and the community gathered to raise money to benefit the Hope Center for Autism.

The Hope Center for Autism supports families affected by autism. In 2007, Susan and Glenn Wood created the center to assist the lives of the children and families of those with autism to live more functional lives.

Facts:
It takes 24+ hours to teach a child with autism how to brush their teeth.
Autism affects 1:68 children.
Autism costs a family on average $60,000 a year.
There is no cure for Autism.

The event included a BBQ cookoff and dinner, delicious beer provided by Rahr & Sons Brewery, a live and silent auction and of course musical entertainment. Multiple Texas musicians were on hand including Sonny Burgess, Jesse Jennings and Aubrey Lynn England. We were also in good company to have other Texas talents come to support the event including Mark McKinney. Auctioned items included suite tickets to a Texas Rangers game, private hunting trips (including one with Jim Sundberg), jewelry and a signed guitar. 100% of the proceeds from the 1st Annual Sonny & Friends Rahr B’Que Cookoff went directly to the Hope Center for Autism.
