Dr Pepper Crock Pot Brisket Recipe

Brisket is a necessity in Texas. Who am I kidding, meat is a necessity in Texas. I however love brisket but have been terrified to cook it. It always seems to turn out great when others cook it but I’ve always been a little nervous, until this past weekend.
I found this recipe on addapinch.com and it’s been approved by Sy so I will pass it along!

Dr. Pepper Slow Cooker Brisket

It’s super easy! Check out the recipe, here or I’ve re-written it below.

Dr. Pepper Slow Cooker Brisket Recipe
Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Cook Time: 8 Hours
Yield: 12 (You will have more than plenty leftovers.)
Ingredients
1 (5-7 pound) brisket, trimmed
1 can Dr. Pepper
1 cup Water
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
1-2 tsp. Garlic Salt
1-2 tsp. Montreal Steak Seasoning
Instructions
1. Add brisket to the slow cooker. Pour in Dr. Pepper and water. Add Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt and Montreal Steak Seasoning. Cover with lid and set slow cooker timer to 8 hours.
2. Remove from slow cooker and slice to serve.
Notes
My brisket came in one super long piece. Be sure to cut it up otherwise when it cooks, it will pop the lid up on the crock pot.
My crock pot was on high and it only took about 4 hours or so (just in case you woke up late on a Sunday and didn’t really want to eat dinner at 8pm).

Dr. Pepper Crock Pot Brisket
The meal was delicious! The meat just fell apart after taking it out of the crock pot.
Be prepared to have ideas for leftovers! You will have them!

Sponsors and Alzheimers Memory Walk

Hi Everyone!

I have signed up for the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk on October 13th in our local area.

In 2008, I lost my grandfather to Alzheimer’s. I was unable to understand what he was going thru and how to cope with the illness. Unfortunately, with most diseases we are unaware of how profound a diagnosis or a disease is until we have a loved one who is diagnosed.
Imagine being unable to recognize loved ones, forgetting precious memories or losing the ability to perform everyday functions. With contributions or a commitment to walk, we can all help to fight this disease and bring an end to Alzheimer’s.

I am walking to remember:
Paul, my grandfather. 2008
Aline, lifetime neighbor. 2012

If you are interested in signing up to walk with me or donating, please see our team website at Miles For Memories.

Sponsorship

I’ve recently opened sponsorship opportunities for Down Home Traveler. Please check out the Contact/Sponsorship tab for more information and options available.

In lieu of the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk, I am offering free 45 day ads with a donation to team Miles For Memories. Donation confirmation will need to be seen prior to the ad being approved. Please see the Contact/Sponsor tab or email me for more information.

Thanks so much!

{Book Club Friday} What Alice Forgot

Today, I’m linking up with Blonde…Undercover Blonde for Book Club Friday.

Synopsis:
Alice finds herself waking up from an unconscious state on the floor of the gym, surrounded by unfamiliar people. She believes she is 29, newly married, new homeowner, pregnant with her first child and hates the gym. In all actuality, she is 39, going thru a divorce, stay at home mom to three children and is a fitness freak. Imagine the confusion.
Alice isn’t the only one having a hard time facing reality. She is figuring out why her relationship with her sister has become so distant only to realize her sister has been battling hurdles for the last ten years herself.
Thru healing from her head injury she has to piece together the last ten years, her new friendships and lost friendships. Alice isn’t happy with who she has become and the book takes you on her journey to find the Alice that she and her loved ones love.
Thoughts:
The book was pretty good. It’s not only about Alice but her husband, children, sister and friends. Liane Moriarty ensured that readers were on the journey with Alice and her family and each point of view is expressed and felt. Imagine your mom not remembering who you are. Imagine not remembering small moments from the last ten years. Imagine trying to reconnect with yourself. It’s a great book. I recommend checking it out!
