Brew Over Ice & Giveaway!

Disclaimer: I did receive product from Brew Over Ice in return for this post. All opinions are entirely my own.

Brew Over Ice

I attended BlogHer in Chicago a few weeks ago and tried out the Strawberry Pomegranate Brew Over Ice and I fell in love. Now I’m hooked!

Let’s back track for a second… I am not a fan of the “coffee” flavor. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE how coffee smells but the taste, oh the taste just isn’t for me. Needless to say, I’ve stayed away from the Keurig machines for this reason. Then they came out with the tea flavors and I’ve been a little more intrigued BUT when I found the Brew Over Ice – they got me.

008It gets pretty hot here in Texas and there’s nothing that I like more than a cool, ice cold beverage on a HOT day. Now, I can have pretty much any flavor I’m looking for in a matter of seconds. There’s a ton of flavors, coffee, Snapple variety, Green Mountain Naturals, Celestial Tea, the list goes on so you are bound to find something you like! Plus, it’s the same great convenience of getting a glass. Fill a cup with ice and tell the Keurig to go!

011Keurig has a great offers going on right now…

  • Participate in the Brew Over Ice Sweepstakes where you could win $10,000 in cash!

BlogHer 2013 – Here We Come!

The time has finally come and I’m on my way (with my good friend, Heather) to Chicago for BlogHer 2013 (heck, maybe I’m already there). BlogHer is an annual conference where bloggers from around the world join together to connect, learn, discuss and inspire each other. (5,000 of us!) We all come from different and diverse backgrounds and hope to make long lasting connections.

In addition to meeting fellow bloggers, there will be workshops to help expand our knowledge on blogging(and hopefully help me with technical aspects of running this show). We will have a chance to listen to various speakers and hear their advice on the blogging world (such as Ree Drummond, the Pioneer Woman). If all that wasn’t enough, we will also have networking opportunities with various companies who have helped to sponsor this exciting event. This includes attending parties and some private parties!

I’m sure we will be blasting social media over the next couple days. Be sure to follow me to stay up to date on the happenings in Chicago. I’ll be running my first 5k tomorrow morning, so I’m pretty excited about all that!

Hopefully, I will take away new friendship, knowledge on the blogging world and new relationships with some sponsors. Most of all, I hope to take away some incredible memories that I can hold onto! I can’t wait to catch up with y’all next week to let you know how it all went!

Texas Steak Cookoff Wine Festival 2013

The Texas Steak Cookoff is one of my favorite events every year, but last year they began incorporating a wine tent into the event. Thus – The Texas Steak Cookoff and Wine Festival.
For the Wine Festival:
Tickets to the wine tent are $20 per person, which includes a souvenir glass. Each person is allotted 10 tickets, one ticket per tasting. This year there were 13 wineries participating, spread out among two tents, which allowed everyone to grab a pretty good selection and lots of room to move about. Each ticket also comes with a raffle submission (see the cookoff post describing the prizes for this year).
It’s not just about tasting the wines, you are also the judge. Each person receives a voting ticket for the best white and red wines.
You could also buy bottles from the wineries attending.
Participating Wineries
(Note – All Texas based Wineries)
Dionisio Winery
Bluff Dale
Flat Creek Winery
D’ Vine Wine
Texas Lagato
Sunset Winery
Red 55 Winery
Fiesta winery
Lost Oak Winery
Blue Ostrich Winery
Los Pinos Ranch Vineyards
Red Caboose Winery

My personal favorite was the Red Caboose Winery and Vineyard. I actually tried three of their wines and they were all fantastic. Coming from someone who is relatively new to the “wine world” and still trying to figure everything out – I really fell in love with their wine and even ended up buying a bottle (below).

This years winners:
White — Fiesta Winery – Happy Trails
Red — Red Caboose – Range Rider
The wine tent was definitely the way to spend the afternoon! It allowed you to get out of the sun and cool off with some ice cold wines. The tent was also filled with members of the backyard chef teams that were cooking. I think I found a new enjoyment and if you have a chance to enjoy the tent next year, give it a go!
