This post is pretty important to fellow bloggers but really everyone who posts any photos on any kind of media site from their cell phone. Maybe I’m a little behind on the times in realizing this but it may shed some light on those who are unaware.
Last night, I attended a Women’s Self Defense Training Class in Grapevine, Texas. This is a one night a week, four week course which is free thru the City of Grapevine, Texas. Honestly, I was timid about attending and unsure what to expect but after one class, this is something that I strongly believe all women experience.
I’ll be writing a more extensive post later on the class itself however I really wanted to bring to light a video that was shown that has made me think twice about the things that I post online. Please take the time to watch this video. Whether we post about ourselves, our children, family and friends it’s incredibly important and may save yourself from an unfortunate event in the future from the crazy folks in this world and may make you think twice. (Kinda unfortunate we even have to do this but it’s better to be safe than sorry!)
Whether we are taking a photo and posting it on Instagram, Facebook or even a photo sharing site, our cell phones are set up to geotrack where the picture was taken. The following video shows that thru the pictures that were posted online, they were able to track the exact location where the pictures were taken and intrude on the privacy of the individuals. The video also shows how to turn the geotracking options off to hide the locations of the photos.
