Vermont Ice Storm 2013

Over the holiday’s, I headed back up north to Vermont. When I arrived, I had just missed the ice storm that took out power, phone lines and many, many, many trees. Although the ice made everything look like a winter wonderland, there was a lot of damage.

TitleFor this week, I thought we’d take a look at the damage first. Completely different in comparison to the ice storm we saw in Texas at the beginning of the month. The ice was EVERYWHERE!

The following pictures (along with the initial photo in this post) were all taken down one stretch of back road in Berkshire. In my opinion, this road was the hardest hit that we saw and this was about a week after the ice storm. Goes to show how much work needed and was being done elsewhere.

These last few pictures were taken between Berkshire and Enosburg. Hidden drives are now pretty hidden… 251 250 249 247Hopefully, the cold madness stops and everyone can have their electricity, phone lines and properties restored soon!

Kicking It Off – 365 Project

Happy New Year everyone! 2013 brought a lot of change into my life and I’m really looking forward to what 2014 has to bring. I’m predicting (hopefully) a lot of growth in many areas – traveling, a new job that’s more oriented with my goals, hopefully opening an Etsy shop and development in learning how to use this camera of mine a little better. I’m open and excited for any opportunities that come my way – so here’s to 2014!

In doing so, I’ve joined up with the Catch the Moment – 365 Project and Project 365. Here, I’ll be putting my camera (Nikon D5100 or iPhone) to the test. Each day, I’ll be posting a photo on Instragram capturing a sneak peak into my day and every Friday I’ll be doing a weekly review here on the blog providing a glimpse of the world from my eyes. Hopefully, this will also help to give me the extra push on becoming more efficient with my camera.

Since today is the first Friday of the year – here are the past couple days!

January 1st:
Flying out of Vermont to Texas. I had to leave my two cute and adorable nieces. Needless to say, the morning was rough.

1of365January 2nd:
The Montreal Canadiens paid a visit to the Dallas Stars last night. I’ve been waiting for this for months! I went with a friend, sat in front of some great Habs fans from Ottawa (that enjoyed getting the Stars fans riled up). The game was awesome, aggressive, a couple fights, lots of goals scored. Entertainment at it’s finest! Go Habs Go!

Catch the Moment, Project 365 was started by Sarah, Stephanie and Mindi. Be sure to swing by their blogs to check out what’s going on in their neck of the woods and see their daily photos. Feel free to join and post from your blog or other media accounts or just do it on your own at home for yourself. It’s pretty amazing looking back over photos from throughout the year to see all that you’ve seen and accomplished.

Be sure to follow me on Instragram to see the latest (and usually extra) photos posted along the way! There’s no telling what 2014 will bring!

As a photography lover, I am always looking for just the right way to hang certain prints. Sometimes, a frame just isn’t enough. It either doesn’t fit the look I want or the photo needs more than just a frame.

Easy Canvas Prints is an online site that allows you to purchase exactly what you’re looking for. The site is extremely user friendly, step-by-step options and you will receive the print in remarkable time!

#shop #photo #canvasThe step-by-step feature provides examples of how big the print will be, the size of the wrap, image quality verification, style and color finishing (black and white or sepia).

#shop #photo #canvasThe canvas arrived much quicker than anticipated. The canvas was sturdy and thick and the image turned out great. The canvas was also equipped with a string ready to be hung on the wall. This is a great gift this holiday season and I’m really excited to be able to share this with my brother and his family. I hope they love it!
