Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! I hope we are all spending the day with family and friends. Although, we should be thankful for everything that we have daily, it’s kind of nice to set aside a specific day otherwise our lives may become so busy that the days pass by too quickly and thanks isn’t noted.

So this year, these are just a few of the things that I am thankful for:

  • My niece – you came into this world on May 9th and my life has not been the same since. I miss you everyday my sweet little baby. I’m so proud of to be your aunt!
  • My family. You are just awesome.
  • My friends, near and far.
    • For the near – thank you so much for your support, your backbone, your guidance. Sometimes, it may not seem like I am listening but I am. I hear every word you are saying. Thank you for craziness, concert buddies and always being there.
    • Far – it amazes me if we haven’t seen each other for months or years, we pick up right where we left off. I’m also very blessed to have known some of you for 3/4 of my life.
  • Blessings in disguise – as much as things may not be going in my favor at times, there is a reason for everything. There is a plan. I’m hopeful that the outcome will be spectacular!
  • Millie – You are honestly the best car that I could ever have. I’m so sorry that I haven’t been the best mama to you and got you into a little fender bender last week, but it’ll be good here on out!
  • Nature and Travel. I’m putting you two hand in hand. I wouldn’t be traveling if I didn’t get to look at the beautiful surroundings in this world. I honestly cannot wait to see what’s next down this road! I feel blessed that I can do the things that I love!
  • Opportunities. Grab every single opportunity. That opportunity alone may open so many doors, you can’t let them pass and I’m thankful for each and every one that comes my way.
  • A job.
  • Down Home Traveler, the readers and fellow bloggers. Honestly, I never would have thought that I would have a following and have fellow blogging friends from near and far. Thank you so much for your support, for making me feel apart of a blogging family and allowing me to know the opportunities that are out there!

These are just some of the things that I am thankful for. What are you thankful for?

Happy Thanksgiving!

5 Years Ago Today

Five years ago today, I was here in Texas to be a bridesmaid in my college friend’s wedding. (Today would have been the rehearsal, tomorrow the wedding.) In my mindset, I was ready to move away from Vermont onto somewhere new but where that “somewhere new” was, I wasn’t quite sure. I had just finished visiting a different college friend in Colorado and wandering around Colorado and Southern Wyoming before I flew into Dallas-Ft. Worth for the festivities. Little did I know how much my life was about to change.Wedding 122

At the wedding, I met a ton of great people and was having such a great time. Then they found out that I was thinking about moving and began their conspiring and convincing escapades to get me down here. In the end it came down to moving somewhere where I knew no one or moving somewhere where I (now) knew a group of people. Well, Texas won out. I arrived in Texas on St. Patrick’s Day in 2008 on a leap of faith, a car full of belongings and without a job.
Here I am, five years later – still in Texas. I was never sure how long I planned on being here but I’m still not ready to leave (sorry family). I’ve seen and experienced things that I never would’ve been able to back in New England. I’ve made some great friendships along the way, witnessed beautiful weddings and met new, cute little babies. I guess it goes to show that sometimes, taking a leap of faith can turn out to be a great thing.
Go Rangers!
Texas just wouldn’t be Texas without Longhorns.
Texas also wouldn’t be Texas without live music!
The Lumineers may have been the best show ever.

Christmas time is one of the best times. People really go all out decorating!

US Women’s Soccer!
(Burrr, that was a COLD day.)
Have I ever mentioned how fantastic the food is down here?!
I can’t even remember what life was like (food wise) before BBQ.
Absolutely love those small Texas towns.
Dallas – Ft. Worth From the Air
This isn’t even a fraction of what’s gone on. It’s been a great ride!
Congrats Heather & Kyle on five years!
Do you remember what you were doing five years ago?

It’s Finally Friday!

Happy Friday Everyone! I’m so excited that it’s Friday! Even more excited that we will be going out to Dallas tonight to take part in the UT vs OU weekend madness. I’ve wanted to go since I’ve moved here and this year is the year! If you’re not familiar, the University of Texas and the University of Oklahoma are big rivals. Each year during the second weekend of October, the Red River Rivalry takes place in Dallas. Tons of fans come to town and from what I hear they basically shut down a street in Dallas and it’s a big ole party. I’m going to say that Vermont wasn’t nearly as “football is life” driven as Texas so it’ll be pretty interesting to see what it’s all about!

Tomorrow morning, I’ll be participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Grapevine, Texas. I am walking in memory of my grandfather and my neighbor. Thank you to everyone who has donated and is walking themselves. It means so much to me and my family. Thank you! Thank you! If you would like to donate or find a walk near your home, please check out the website! Every little bit helps to fund research and offer care to communities throughout the nation.

Finally, I thought I would give you all a few facts about me!
  •  I have such a hard time thinking of facts about myself (that’s why you haven’t really seen “facts about Diana” in a post)!
  • My first language was french. I didn’t speak English until I started Kindergarten.

  • My graduating class was 28 people strong. I most of them when I was five and still talk to the majority of them today!
  • Favorite Shows: Duck Dynasty (if you haven’t gotten hooked on this one, you are missing out), Big Bang Theory and New Girl.
  • I want to go hang out at a true Texas ranch in the WORST way. Seriously, I’m ready to do all the ranch work. (If any of you can help me on this, email me).
  • I’m terrified of heights. Terrified.
  • Snakes too. Not a fan.
  • I have a younger brother who is the best dad to the cutest little girl in the world. She is beautiful and awesome. I’m so thankful I can Skype with her and see her. Technology is amazing.
  • I’m crafty as all get out. When I’m shopping, it basically comes down to “I can make that.” Does anyone else do this?
  • I’m not a fan of socks or things on my feet in general. I would walk the world barefoot if I could however I don’t like looking at feet either.
  • I have a phone from 2007. It’s a flip phone. It’s pretty rad. Don’t worry, I’m getting a new phone soon!
  • When weekends come around, I would like nothing more than to just go on a drive to some unknown destination by taking random roads. I guess this is thanks to my parents bringing us on drives on the weekends. Look how great it turned out to be!
Have a great weekend y’all!
