Being Thankful, Week 3

I’ve been posting these on Sundays and I was a little busy yesterday so I wasn’t able to post – definitely not less thankful though!

This weeks thanks:

  • Yesterday, I played in a benefit softball tournament at softball world for a little baby who is about to have heart surgery. I’m thankful for being able to contribute to such a good cause, the baby is absolutely adorable. Send some prayers their way – I can’t even imagine. I’m also thankful for my friends who invited me to play with them – loved it!
  • I’m thankful for good listeners, even though I may drive some of them nuts. I’ve found some great friends in this world. I’m pretty lucky.
  • I’m thankful for yoga again. I think this is going to become a great weekly ritual.
  • I’m thankful for new recipes. Who doesn’t love a good new recipe?!
  • I’m thankful for considerate customer service when you call in and have an issue with something. It goes a long way.
  • I’m thankful for receiving “Rudy” as a gift this week. It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without watching it!
  • I’m thankful for a four day work week and being able to celebrate Thanksgiving this week with some great people! I’m so excited!
  • I’m thankful for the little things in life. Sometimes that’s all the most important. A hug, holding a door open, letting someone get in front of you in traffic or just smiling hello. Then again there are grilled cheese sandwiches on cold evenings, flannel sheets and good music that you can just dance around to like no one is watching – those are all good too!

Have a good Thanksgiving week ya’ll!

Being Thankful, Week 2

Week 2:

I’m thankful for good music. This past Friday, I had the pleasure of going out to a show in Fort Worth and there are few things better than listening to a good live band, with good friends, good beer and seeing cute boys in cowboy boots and pearl snaps. Now I just need to get the two-step down!

I’m thankful for The Yoga Project. I’ve never done yoga but for some reason on Saturday, I thought, “Eh, what the heck!”. Well, I sweated my butt off for one. I was forewarned and I don’t know the last time I sweat that much (ya, I know – disgusting.) but as hot as it was I didn’t find myself thinking about the heat. I kind of forgot about it. The class really made you focus just on yourself, your breathing and your body. The class was filled with people of all levels and I felt pretty comfortable for not knowing anyone and not knowing what the heck I was suppose to be doing. After I left the class and even today, I feel absolutely amazing. It was completely detoxifying and therapeutic. I seriously can’t tell you how “at peace” I feel. I suppose it would be the best way to describe it. It was amazing. Each week they have a basic beginners class for $3 on Saturdays – if you are in the DFW area, check them out. I’ll even go with you.

I’m thankful for generosity. Those who will reach out with open arms to either see how you are doing or asking if you would like to go ahead of them in line when you have few items. The small things so a long way and they are dually noted. Thank you.

I’m thankful for finding my work badge that I hadn’t seen since Wednesday. It was hiding under the passengers seat, I have no idea how it go there but I got ya buddy. The security guy at work will be happy, haha.

I’m thankful for being pretty good about directions. Although I don’t have the best memory, I get the roads around here, for the most part. I know which roads go north/south, east/west. I can find my way. Heck, it could be a lot worse right?!

I’m thankful for hanging out with some good friends over the weekend. One night I even witnessed Chicken Shit Bingo. No joke.

I’m thankful for serenity. For calmness and peacefulness. Sometimes it’d just nice to sit with the TV off and to just enjoy the moment. Then again I really enjoy those CMT Sunday night movies and the Hallmark holiday movies. Thanks cable for those today too.

Being Thankful, Week 1

I know a lot of people do these everyday and even though I do have a lot to be thankful for, I figured why not throw it all into a post a week?!

Week 1:

I’m thankful that it’s the holiday season. It’s really the best time of the year. I left work the other day singing Christmas tunes and it was only November 1st, actually I think it may have still been October. I love it.

I’m thankful for Texas weather – oh the fall is an awesome time to be living in Texas. The temperature cools down. There is a slight breeze in the air. Makes you want to take those long walks all day long and just enjoy being outside. I love it, I love  it, I love it.

I’m thankful for being able to travel and experience different places and things I get to visit. And I’m thankful that I have this medium to be able to share everyone who reads this blog and hopefully encourage or inspire someone to do the same. Break out of your shell and try something new!

I’m really thankful for my vehicle. She’s a trooper. She is 15 years old in her old lady blue and still kicking it. I love that car. She may have a little rust and wear and tear but she’s been a ways with me. Senior year of college, graduations, driving to the mountain to snowboard, singing in the car when no one is around, moving from Vermont to Texas, my trips! I wish I could make her last forever. Hopefully she’s still got another year in her (at least)!

I’m thankful for weddings. I love them. I mean I really, really LOVE them. They bring together the closest friends and family of a couple (some who you haven’t seen in some time) to celebrate them and the bond that they have created. It’s special to see and be apart of so much love in one room and share a day that people will remember for the rest of their lives. It also gives you a reason to dance! (By the way – Congratulations to the most recent weddings – Bethanye and Matt (11-05) and Amy and Michael (10-02).)

I am thankful for good friends. Friends where if you happen to not speak to them for a while (because you are thousands of miles apart) or just busy that when you do meet up, you pick up right where you left off. No one skipped a step. Friend’s where if you need anything, they will just drop what they’re doing and help out. Friend who you are lucky enough to have known since you were five and still have the privilege of calling them a friend and friend’s that you have known only a short period of time but they feel like sisters and brothers. It’s wicked special and a surely a blessing.

Have a good week!
