Revolver Brewing

Overall, the weekend weather has been perfection. It’s the best time to be outside with great company and enjoy everything local. Over the past few weeks, we’ve found ourselves visiting local Fort Worth breweries and this past weekend we ventured just outside of town to Revolver Brewing in Granbury, Texas.

An easy 30 minute drive just off Highway 377, Revolver Brewing sits in a perfect location. Perfect as you feel like this is a little secret spot that only the people there know about. On first look, it was much bigger than I expected, extremely nice and most importantly – relaxing. This is what weekends are all about, right?!

From 12 to 3pm, visitors can enjoy four glasses of their favorite Revolver Brews in a custom Revolver glass (which they keep). Come after 2pm and you’ll be allotted two pours. For $10 each, this is a great deal! Around 1:30pm, we enjoyed a little tour from a brewmaster who provided some insight on their operation as well as answering some questions from guests.

Outside, there was a great space full of picnic tables, seating, games and most importantly a stage with a live band. Food vendors are also available each weekend. With the weather being in the 70’s, it couldn’t get any better. All of my favorite things in one location.

Sometimes it’s nice to get out of the city and enjoy something close but a little out of sight from the everyday “norm”. This was it. We were still able to head back to Fort Worth and enjoy the rest of the day and meet up with some great people. If experiencing local brews is your thing, I’d highly recommend placing Revolver on the top of the list.

Collective Brewing Project, Fort Worth Breweries, Texas Breweries, Microbreweries This past weekend, the newest brewery in Fort Worth opened it’s doors and quickly became one of my all time favorites – The Collective Brewing Project. The location, atmosphere and most importantly flavor left us wanting to spend our entire weekend here. Take a look!

Situated just south of I-30 in Southside Fort Worth, the renovations to this building are amazing. Whether it was the lighting fixtures, table tops or the exposed brick (who doesn’t love exposed brick), it left an industrial feel. Cozy, familiar and relaxing. A perfect weekend location with friends and family to relax and bask in good company (and beer).

It’s not just the interior but the outdoor capability. With a grand spot in the back, it’s perfect for taking in the excellent fall weather around. A good ole game or two of cornhole (aka bags), tables, a little live music perhaps (I’d personally love to see Grady Spencer playing back here – hint, hint), the opportunities are endless. For the opening a food truck was parked nearby but I’m sure the future holds endless opportunities for this space. The Beer
Let’s get to the whole purpose of this place! It’s all about the craft beer. To me, The Collective Brewery is really unique. My entire goal is to try something different and unique. Varieties of flavors, ingredients, smells and let’s face it clever names are always the icing on the cake. The Collective Brewery doesn’t disappoint.

Mustache Rye’d was definitely my favorite out of the five on tap. A smooth, roasted flavor that has a slightly bitter finish that quickly fades. A great rye porter. I’ll definitely be back for more of this one.

A first for me was the Petite Golden Sour – a sour beer. Actually, I heard this was a first for quite a few folks at the event and I think we were all just as eager to try it. Sour beer isn’t something that’s been sticking out in the Fort Worth beer scene (unless I’ve been missing something) so CBP has found a great niche. The taste – a lot like a grapefruit, tart, easy to drink. My only quarrel is the smell… it is worst than the taste but you get over that pretty quickly. Don’t let that deter you!

What I absolutely love about the beer are the options available… in sizes.

Pints – no explanation needed here.
Half pints! These had to be made for me and brewery tours. Going to a brewery and not being able to try everything on tap, well who likes to do that?! Or sometimes you’ll get a pint just isn’t for you. This is the PERFECT size to try everything. For instance, five beers on tap – got to try every one.
Crowlers – this is also something that I haven’t seen in the Fort Worth. 32-oz cans ready to fill with the brew of your choice to take with you.Really, can it get any better than that?

If you are in the Fort Worth area and looking to try something unique and new – this is your hot spot. Easy to find off the highway, ample parking and I guarantee you’ll leave with a smile on your face – we did. These guys definitely have something to be proud of!

Weekends Should Be Like Mini Vacations

If we’ve met, you’d know I like to stay on my feet. The world is an amazing place with something new always to be seen and experienced. The sounds go hand in hand with the sights. There’s an experience to be had around every corner. More reasons to turn weekends into mini-vacations.

Don’t get me wrong, we all have a million things going on but it’s doable! It doesn’t have to take all day, break the bank or be hundreds of miles away. It only has to be so much fun to make you forget all of your worries and be in the moment. Here’s a glimpse into my last weekend!

Friday:
Friday evening after work I headed over to Farmers Branch, Texas to the Bluegrass Heritage Festival. I was about as excited as a kid in a candy store. Bluegrass isn’t something that I get to experience as often in Texas as I did back home in Vermont but I grabbed hold of the opportunity.

Saturday
Saturday morning I was up and at ’em early. First, a 15.5 mile bike ride on the Trinity Trails in Fort Worth. These trails seem endless and I pass thru so much – Backwoods Rentals, the park for picnics, basketball and the Pillar Project. Farther downstream following the Trinity River, I came across fitness groups, live music and even a few fly fisherman. All smart folks – enjoying every ounce of the amazing weather!

Who doesn’t love a good brewery tour?! This is one of my favorite things to do. Each location is a new experience for your sights, sounds and tastes. This afternoon I met a couple friends at the Bearded Eel in Saginaw. The stout – yum! Delicious! Who doesn’t love a Saturday afternoon spent with good friends, hearty laughs with a cold brew in hand!

This calls for a girls night to see Gone Girl. Beyond twisted. If you haven’t seen it – it’s good. You’ll get a taste of what “crazy” really looks like.

Sunday Brunch. Brunch has to be one of my favorite meals. On this Sunday, I ate at one of my favorite places, Cat City Grill in Southside Fort Worth. Eggs Benedict – you make my belly so happy!

While everyone was watching the Cowboys game, I made these tasty, delicious and fresh out of the oven blueberry muffins (and my apartment smelled the best)!
