I remember when I first moved to Texas, Heather told me that if I ever got lost, just to look for the water towers and they would help me out. (I doubt she even remembers telling me that.) At the time, I just kind of overlooked the fact of what she was saying. Now, I look for them, just to look for them and well, you can’t really miss them. I love capturing them in photos – maybe it’s just the fact that we didn’t have them back in Vermont like we do in Texas.
Last weekend, I took a little drive northwest of Fort Worth and drove thru a couple small towns. This is what I came up with.
I love how I was able to grab the Texas flag in this photo. Texans and their pride. Something to say that the Texas flag is blowing the the American one is not.
This last one, was near the Texas Motor Speedway. Talk about old and rusted.
Love how this one came out too.
Today I’m linking up with The Paper Mama, Jenni From the Blog, Seven Clown Circus, Photography Essentials, Communal Global and Live and Love Outloud for{Wordless Wednesday}.
LOVE water towers!! Especially the one in Gruene!
Oh, I do love the one in Gruene. I’ve only been there twice but each time, I just have to get a shot!
Great pictures! Even Euless has at least 2 of them that i can think of.
So did you decide to stay here or are you moving back?
Thanks Holli! Texas grabbed a piece of my heart. I decided to stay.
this is a great set of images, Diana! love the transition into b/w on your last image. Water towers, especially the older ones, have so much character … nope, they sure don’t make them like they used to! We also have family in Texas, and have been talking about moving there, ourselves! This is my first visit from both Sweet Shot Tuesday, and Live and Love Out Loud. Have a great day! 🙂
Thanks! I think that last watertower is my favorite from the day. I couldn’t decide which I liked more, the color or b&w. Either way, the rust is phenomenal.
too funny! we have no water towers visible in Washington…I feel like we need a few like that because I am always lost!
Its basically a big sign in the sky! We didnt have them in Vermont either… maybe it’s a Southern thing.
This is so true! I have a friend that always gives directions with water towers, and you never get lost!
Good idea to give directions that way!
