Good Morning Y’all!
How was everyone’s weekend? It’s officially fall, can you believe it?! I can’t. I still can’t believe it’s not April and that Christmas will be here before we know it. It’s just craziness really. The year is just going by too fast!
The weekend was spent packing, selling a casket, packing, getting Sy to take me out to dinner in Fort Worth (steak does the trick) and more packing. That came at you pretty quick, let’s recap.
1. We are moving next weekend.
2. I’ll tell you more about the dinner later this week. It was quite tasty!
3. Casket? Yes, you read right. Incredibly random. It’s really amazing what you can sell on Craigslist. Sy’s grandfather passed away many, many years ago. At the time, he was cremated however the cemetery required that the sealed urn be placed in a casket before being placed in a niche in the mausoleum. If you are saying to yourself, “Well, that doesn’t make much sense.” well… I said the same thing. Sy’s grandmother passed away in January and was laid to rest at DFW National Cemetery and his family has since moved his grandfather there as well since they were both in the Navy. They realize that the casket is really a waste of money and didn’t require the casket so it needed a home. Thus – selling a casket. How much more random can we get for this Monday!
4. On a final note, I went running yesterday. This is kind of big as I despise running and these short little legs of mine don’t move very fast. 1.25 miles in 20 minutes though isn’t bad. I’m bringing this up mostly to encourage myself to keep this going. So if you don’t see an update about my short legs running miles in the future, ask me as I may need a little push!
A couple updates:
1. As unsavy as I am with technology, I finally figured out how to ad these social media buttons to the blog. High five’s all around! I am SO proud of myself I can’t even tell you. With that said, please link up! Let’s put these buttons into action!
2. I have sponsor spots available for October! I have ad spots and swaps available! Please see the sponsorship page for more info on options available!
Until October 12th, the ad will be free with a donation to benefit the Walk to End Alzheimer’s made on my team page.
On October 13th, I am participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This is the nation’s largest event to raise funds for Alzheimer’s research, care and support. I participated in the Walk in 2007 in Burlington, Vermont for my grandfather. This year I am walking in memory of my grandfather who passed in 2008 and also a lifelong neighbor of my parents who passed in August. I think many of us blog partially to hold onto the present a little bit longer and have the ability to reflect back on it later on however when Alzheimer’s comes into play, many memories are lost. Please help to prevent that by participating in a walk near you or thru a donation. Small or large it helps and is appreciated!
2. Have you all checked out Desirae’s blog at Going With The Flow? If you haven’t you really should! In honor of hitting 100+ GFC members, she is having a giveaway. I am also participating by giving away a Big Tex ad spot and a guest blog post for October! Please be sure to check out her site and see what else is up for grabs as well as checking out her posts!

in response to the casket: wow. wow.
so you had it in your house? i can’t imagine how i would have been able to get used to that. you all are very brave in my eyes! i’m sorry that sy lost his grandather..and yea, you’re right. you can sell just about anything on craigslist.
i see that you live in texas but are from new england – how do you like the lack of autumn right now? i live in georgia, but i’ve found that in the south (and southwest) it seems to take a while to actually catch on to the new season.
well, i’m new to your blog..now following!

Hi Morgan! Thanks for checking out the blog. The casket – no it was not in my house. It was actually in the garage of his grandmother’s old house. haha. I didn’t find it super creepy as there was never an actual body in it, just a sealed urn…. if there was well that would be a completely different story, haha.
I am in Texas, from Vermont. The lack of autumn is horrible, nothing quite compares. I really miss the fall in New England but the fact that it does still get cooler and I can break out the layers, there’s still pumpkins to carve and apple pie is still tangible, its a plus! (Plus the leaves do change a bit, the colors just aren’t as bright.)
